Veteran Benefits can be a lifesaver when paying for senior living. The pension that is most applicable for senior living is called the Aid and Attendance Pension. If a Veteran has served 90 days active duty with one of those days being in a war time period and was discharged under anything but dishonorably, then that person or their spouse may be eligible for a significant pension from the VA.
In 2019 the monthly rates for the Aid and Attendance Pension are as follows: Veteran with no dependents $1,881.00/month, Veterans with one dependent $2,230/month, a surviving spouse $1,209/month, and Veteran married to a Veteran $2,985/month.
